WINDSOR WEST LIBERAL RIDING ASSOCIATION

Windsor West has a Candidate!

Former radio personality Melanie Deveau will stand as the Liberal candidate in Windsor West for the upcoming federal election.

“After an exhaustive search, the Windsor West Federal Liberal Association is extremely happy to have found Melanie as a candidate,” Laura Joy, president of the Windsor West Liberal Association, said Thursday.

“Her extensive media career has allowed her to be at the forefront of many local issues over the years. She has strong connections with our community and we look forward to her upcoming campaign.”

Deveau will challenge incumbent NDP MP Brian Masse. A Conservative candidate for the riding has not yet been selected. Lisa Lumley ran unsuccessfully for the party in Windsor during the last federal election in 2008.

Deveau called employment the major issue during the upcoming campaign. An election date has not yet been set. “After losing my job during the recession, I have experienced first-hand the hardships that families in Windsor have faced over the last few years,” Deveau said. “It is time that someone stands up for working families in our community at the federal level as part of a government that can bring real and effective change.”
